Probate Matters

philadelphia probateIn the event that a loved one in your family passes away, we invite you to contact our office to schedule a Complimentary Settlement Review meeting. At that time, we can review with you, along with other family members or friends, the steps involved in settling an estate, along with your responsibilities if you have been appointed as an Executor and/or Trustee. During our meeting, we will provide you with more detailed information about how The Levin Law Firm can assist you through the stages of an estate administration.

You will probably have many questions. Please write them down and bring them to our meeting. It would also be helpful if you could bring your original estate planning documents.  If you are able to easily locate them, other helpful documents to bring to our meeting, include:

  • Death Certificate
  • Originals or copies of real estate deeds
  • Copies of recent statements from banks, brokerage accounts, retirement plan accounts and investment firms
  • Life insurance policies
  • Original titles to cars, boats, and other registered motor vehicles

If you cannot easily locate these items, don’t worry; just bring what you have.  Please do not close any bank accounts, re-title any assets, roll-over any IRAs, or collect any life insurance, until we have had an opportunity to meet with you in person, since this can result in extra taxes and other administrative issues. We will provide you with more information about these and other financial issues during our meeting.

We look forward to helping you during this period of time in your life when the support of friends and family members is especially important to your health and well being.
